Blink and you’ll miss it, this little hole in the wall eatery is the home of delicious and authentic sushi.

Still new to the area, Tsuki Japanese is quickly becoming a local favourite. They’ve (rightfully) developed a reputation for having the tastiest sashimi and wonderfully delightful flavours. You’ll find yourself entranced watching the owner/chef’s craft their dishes to precision from the deck. And drooling at the selection by the front counter.

Tsuki Japanese specialises in providing healthy and fresh meals made with local ingredients. Fresh yellowfin tuna and kingfish are sourced from local fishermen. You know you won’t find fresher, better grade sashimi anywhere else. The sushi is made daily on the premises each day by Japanese trained chefs. You absolutely can taste the difference.

Delicious Premium Jumbo Prawn Roll – yum!

You get a sense of homely perfectionism with Tsuki. A pride that is evident in every recipe and each little detail in the store front. Presentation of the food, as well as the look and feel of the nook are both deliberately delightful.Perfectly positioned for people watching, the wood frontage with contrasting black trims and traditional red accents are hard to miss.

This gem is tucked in beside the entrance of the Nelson Bay Medical Plaza. Designed as a cute takeaway joint and not necessarily a restaurant, the prime location is about convenience, not ambiance. With limited seating available, the food is best enjoyed in the sun by the water.

There’s no need to worry about finding parking either. Parking is available right outside the door or across the road.

Picking just one or two items from the menu is always tough!

On the Menu

The menu features an array of traditional Japanese cuisine including raw and cooked Sushi Rolls, Tempura, Miso Soup, Bento boxes, fresh tuna and salmon sashimi. Perhaps you’d prefer warm Japanese curries, Don bowls and also delicious sides of karaage chicken, or pork and vegetarian gyoza. Don’t forget to check the specials board too!

Finish the meal with water, soft drinks or traditional Japanese drinks (hot or cold)

Personal fave: The soft shell crab premium roll. I’m drooling just thinking about it.
